Objective: This activity will help your child develop fine motor skills, increase his/her attention span, learn new vocabulary, work with textures, and express himself/herself creatively.
Craft: First the students will choose from different already made yarn outlines on cardboard. There will be a variety of yarn from the students to choose from. They will put glue in the center of the outline and put yarn on the glue. When done the yarn will cover all or most of the cardboard.
Snack:
Sometimes the students will help me make a snack. We might make cinnamon and sugar tortilla chips.
Short Craft or fun play:
If the students where able to finish the craft before snack their will be a quick craft or they can work on their workbooks. The workbooks have information about each country we visit, and worksheets for them to complete.
Purpose: The children will learn that crafts are fun to make and they can use yarn to make a painting. They will also learn about a different culture, and a different way of seeing things.
The following pictures are samples of the crafts that I have made myself and with my son.
